Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Southern California, this remarkable home blurs the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors, offering a captivating and seamless experience. It transcends the definition of a mere house, becoming a true testament to the artful fusion of two worlds, brought to life through a remarkable collaborative effort.
This architectural masterpiece pays homage to the collective genius of the talented individuals behind it. The vision of the clients, who sought a contemporary dwelling with an open floor plan and a connection to the breathtaking natural surroundings, found its realization through the visionary architects at Landry Design Group, the masterful craftsmanship of Peter McCoy Construction, the landscape expertise of Stephen Billings, and the interior design prowess of The Wiseman Group.
The exterior of the home embodies a modern vernacular, harmonizing soft curves and various materials and textures. Amalfi limestone and Western red cedar were artfully combined to craft a warm and unique facade. These materials extended to architectural elements such as clerestories and the signature curved ceilings with rhythmic braces for support.
Inside, sliding glass doors seamlessly blend the two-story great room with the covered loggia, inviting the outdoors in. The residence is thoughtfully designed to make the most of its sloped site, with rooms on both levels featuring glassed openings to allow abundant natural light and frame the magnificent views. An outdoor cast glass staircase connects the upper and lower levels, while a cascading water feature conceals a hidden grotto.
Tucked into the hillside, the recreation room and gym open onto another covered loggia, complemented by a custom fire pit and an infinity-edge lap pool that invites relaxation. Judges praised the well-organized, museum-like space with excellent sight lines, considering the house itself a work of art. They also took note of the captivating ceilings throughout.
This journey has been a source of immense pride, as our meticulous Cantor Collection found its place in this remarkable home, guided by the expertise of Paul Vincent Wiseman. To capture the essence of California cool, the British-born, Los Angeles–based photographer Roger Davies lent his keen lens, renowned for showcasing the homes of Hollywood stars.
